General Cleaning Tips

General cleaning of the kitchen does not take much time and effort, if you make every day at least a little effort to keep this room clean. But there are some specific features in each case, and general cleaning is not an exception.

Council The quality of cleaning will not be higher if you use the most expensive detergents and cleaning products. In some cases, simple home remedies that cost low and do not harm your health give a significantly better effect.

Surfaces

How best to start cleaning the kitchen? Perhaps, with the most difficult and “dirty” work - scrubbing apron, kitchen tiles, facades and countertops.

  • Tile and other ceramic surfaces are well rubbed by ordinary soda. It is moistened with water to a pasty state, and applied to surfaces requiring cleaning. Soda perfectly destroys fatty spots. After some time, the surface is washed with water.
  • The facades of the kitchen, on which stains and dirty stains can remain, can be washed well with the help of ordinary laundry soap.

Kitchen cleaning tips would be incomplete without considering cleaning methods for various types of countertops.

  • Wooden countertop. If the material of the tabletop is wood, it must be coated with oil (for example, linseed) to protect it from contamination. Clean wooden countertops with coarse salt or soda.
  • Stone countertops are washed with soapy water, and never used abrasives.
  • Countertops made of granite can not be washed with substances having an acidic reaction (vinegar), they are washed with dishwashing detergents with the addition of alcohol in a ratio of 3: 1, diluting this mixture with water.

Council Before you begin the general cleaning of the kitchen, turn off the refrigerator from the outlet and prepare it for defrosting. And also wet the plate with soap or dishwashing solution, and leave for a while. Fat and dirt will go away, at the end of the cleaning you will only have to wipe it with a dry cloth.

Fridge

Once a week it is necessary to conduct an audit of the contents of the refrigerator. By the time you finished cleaning the surfaces, the refrigerator was “thawed out”, and you can start disassembling it.

  • First, remove and inspect the products. Those who have expired or changed their appearance should be thrown away.
  • Shelves, plastic containers for fruits and other containers, remove and wash with soap or dish detergent.
  • Cleaning the kitchen will require ammonia: it perfectly washes old stains on the plastic of the refrigerator, and also helps to clean glass shelves to shine - just add a few drops of ammonia to the water with which you will rinse them.
  • To cope with stains of fat in the refrigerator will help soda, soap, detergent for dishes. Do not use aggressive detergents containing chlorine or triclosan. You can try whitening yellow stains with a toothpaste.
  • After washing, everything that goes into the internal equipment of the refrigerator should be thoroughly dried and put back in place.

Council If there is an unpleasant smell in the refrigerator, put a container of freshly ground coffee in it. Well clean the smell bags with silica gel (such invest in shoe boxes).

Oven, microwave

In modern kitchen there are usually two “stoves” - a microwave and an electric or gas oven. In all kitchen cleaning tips, it is usually noted that it is very difficult to clean them, but in fact this is not quite true if you follow a simple pattern.

Read the oven instructions. It may have a cleaning function, pyrolytic or catalytic. If so, you’ll have to do almost nothing.

  • With pyrolytic cleaning, you just need to turn on the oven in the appropriate mode, and all the dirt will turn into ashes, which can be removed with a damp cloth.
  • During pyrolytic cleaning, all cleaning consists in washing the walls with soapy water.

If there are no special cleaning functions in your oven, it will take a little longer to clean the kitchen.

  • Dissolve four tablespoons of soda in 0.5 l of water, pour this solution into a spray bottle and spray the walls of the oven.
  • Leave for an hour, then rinse with water.
  • If contaminated areas remain, repeat the procedure.
  • In particularly difficult cases, a rubber scraper for car glass may help.
  • At the very end, wipe the walls with water and vinegar (1: 1).

The easiest part of cleaning the kitchen is washing the microwave.

  • Take a bowl for the microwave, pour a glass of water into it and squeeze the juice of one lemon into it, or dissolve in it two teaspoons of citric acid.
  • Put the bowl with the solution inside and turn on the oven for 10 minutes at maximum power.
  • Carefully remove the bowl and wipe the walls of the microwave with a dry cloth.

Council The first thing to do when starting to clean the stove is to remove the trays and grates from it, and soak them in a deep container with hot water, adding some liquid to it. After half an hour, they are easily cleaned with a sponge.

Dust

Cleaning the kitchen includes dusting all surfaces - shelves, jars of supplies, vessels with oil and spices, chandeliers, ceiling lamps, top surfaces of cabinets, hoods - all this accumulates dust, which also mixes with the settled grease and remove its not that easy.

Among the useful tips for cleaning the kitchen one of the most important is not to leave “missed” places! Wipe absolutely all surfaces with a damp cloth: window slopes and window sills, window frame binders, walls and ceiling.

  • Ordinary dust is removed with a damp cloth, it is better if it is made of microfiber - such a fabric has many microscopic “hooks” that cling to mud deposits and perfectly remove them from different surfaces.
  • Where the dust has mixed with grease, the cloth will have to be moistened with soapy water.
  • Metal surfaces, such as hoods, are easy to clean with diluted vinegar. Remove the filters from the hood and wash them in the dishwasher or in the sink using dishwashing detergent.
  • Do not forget to clean the blinds: they can be removed and washed with warm water and soap, or with dishwashing liquid.

Council Living plants help fight dust and grease in the kitchen, absorbing them. But it will not free you completely from harvesting, because the green leaves of the plants also need cleaning from accumulated dust. But plants perfectly purify the air from the combustion products of domestic gas, which is important for kitchens with gas stoves.

Washing

  • In order not to waste time and effort on washing the sink, close it with a cork, pour hot water to the top, and add a little bleach to the water.
  • After an hour, release the water, and wipe the sink with a sponge, which is applied to a couple of drops of dishware.
  • The mixer can be wiped with diluted vinegar or lemon juice to remove the limescale.
  • Wipe the tap and the sink after washing dry.
