Computer desk in the living room interior

In conditions of limited space it is difficult to allocate a separate room for a full-fledged workplace. And therefore we have to work where it is necessary - sitting at the kitchen table, on the sofa and even on the floor. You have to constantly move the laptop, carry additional devices and stationery. Is there anyone who can concentrate and work productively in such conditions? Hardly. It is not by chance that so much attention is paid to the proper organization of working space in offices. Nothing reduces efficiency like uncomfortable furniture. But from this knowledge a separate office will not appear. Maybe we should discard stereotypes and organize it indoors at first glance for this un-intended?

Pay attention to the living room. This is the largest room in the house. Here you can always find an inconspicuous corner, which is suitable for a computer desk. Or maybe there is something here that you have long wanted to get rid of? For example, outdated dresser. Fine! There is a reason to say goodbye to the "hardened" furniture and free up space for more important things.

Weigh the pros and cons

Arguments in favor of creating a working area in the living room:

  1. Solves the problem of lack of space.
  2. The living room is a spacious and bright room. Good lighting and enough oxygen have a beneficial effect on well-being and efficiency.
  3. Living room - common room. Having a computer desk in the interior of the living room, do not have to negotiate with someone and argue. You can safely immerse yourself in the process, without being distracted by households and without disturbing anyone.
  4. The ability to communicate with homework while you work or watch your favorite program on TV, if the type of activity allows you to combine communication and work.
  5. There is a reason to partially or completely change the design, to make the interior stylish and modern.

Cons of this solution:

  • You may disturb the noise of others. If guests come or household members gather around the TV it will be difficult to concentrate;
  • you can interfere with the surrounding noise - if it is an integral part of the activity;
  • will have to remove everything that was used for work each time.

Variants of selection of the working area

There are many ways to beat the working area in the interior. And the first thing with which you should decide is whether you want it to be as much as possible combined with the rest of the situation or, preferring, to be different and look isolated.

In the first case, complete the existing set of furniture with a table of the same color. In the second - emphasize the special purpose of the zone with a contrasting color, decoration, lighting.

Zoning options

Separating the workplace with:

  • deaf septum. Two isolated rooms with separate exits will appear;
  • partial partition, and if one of the zones is left without a window, select the transparent option. The glass wall will muffle the sounds and will not interfere with the penetration of sunlight;
  • cabinet or shelving with open shelves. The obvious bonus - there is an additional place to store things;

  • curtains, hanging partitions, curtains made from bamboo, plastic or glass elements;
  • multi-level ceiling or floor;
  • finishing materials - wall panels, tiles, wallpaper of a different color and texture, plaster, murals. The finishing of the working area should stand out and at the same time be in harmony with the rest of the room design.

Variants of placement and combination with other furniture

Each room is individual. Therefore, when developing a design project, consider:

  • size, number and location of windows, doors, built-in furniture;
  • the shape of the room, the presence of the bay window, niches, insulated loggia;
  • the number and location of natural light sources and lighting fixtures;
  • the number of outlets in the zone.

It is necessary to think carefully of everything so that there are no surprises in the form of doors that do not fully open, and the unsightly "tails" of extenders do not stretch across the floor.

Each room has features that will influence the choice of location for the workplace.

Computer desk have:

Near the windowSeparate table or increased window sill and tabletop along the wall. Pros - sufficient illumination in the daytime, the view from the window.
Between two windowsA small table and hanging shelves will be placed in the gap.
Along the wallA rectangular table is appropriate, which will not clutter the room.
In the cornerHere it is worthwhile to install a full-fledged corner computer desk with all the necessary shelves for office equipment and office.

  • in a niche - a rectangular table fits perfectly. On the walls are shelves, extra lighting. If the depth of the niche allows, separate it with curtains or blinds. Get a separate mini-office;
  • in the bay window - a table with a rounded table top would be an excellent choice. If the semicircular protrusion is separated from the common space by a sofa, a shelf or a chest of drawers, you will get a separate corner;
  • on the balcony - at the side wall, along the parapet, if the balcony is attached, at the place of the recessed window sill;
  • inside the built-in wardrobe - after work the doors are closed and the office is hidden from prying eyes.

Types of computer tables

To find out what type of table optimally fit into the proposed space, we offer to consider various options.

  1. Straight desks, about a meter long, equipped with a compartment for a computer and a retractable keyboard shelf;
  2. Corner - left and right configuration;
  3. Modular - the line includes modules that are installed in a variable order;
  4. Transformers - able to change the configuration. For example, a table that transforms into a cupboard;
  5. With shelves and drawers - straight and corner models with shelves for office equipment and drawers for necessary items;
  6. With a superstructure and lockers - ceiling designs for organizing books, stationery, clothes, shoes;
  7. Tables with racks - the rack is fixed on the table top and compensates for the lack of wall shelves;
  8. Tables for schoolchildren - what does a student need? There is more worktop, so that there is where to learn lessons, draw, place a stand with a book, shelves, for educational and reference books that do not block the light. Notebook boxes and stationery.

Work area lighting

The quality of lighting affects the performance and well-being. With a lack of light, the eyes are in constant tension, they tire faster. Systematic impairment of eye hygiene leads to reduced vision. And the older a person becomes, the more pernicious is the lack of light. But too bright light affects the eyes negatively. The luminous flux should be evenly distributed throughout the workplace.

Glare and frequent flashing are unacceptable, therefore it is better not to use fluorescent lamps. Rays emanating from LED devices are more pleasing to the eye. In the daytime, natural light is preferable. If it is not enough, pendant, table lamps and built-in lights will help.

There are lots of ways to transform a hall into a multifunctional room. The office in the living room is a great choice for those who do not have a separate office.
